Christmas Cards

Last month my upline challenged our group to make a Christmas card using a non-Christmas stamp set. This got me looking at my stamps in a different light! You do not have to have the traditional Christmas images to make your cards, but don't let that stop you buying some if you want to!
This isn't the card I made for the challenge, this is one I did for a workshop yesterday. The colours are Christmassy but the stamps could be used for any occasion.
I used the Print pattern with Green Galore ink and stamped it off three times onto scrap paper before stamping onto the Whisper White cardstock. This gave a very subtle background which you can just see. Using the Petal Prints stamp set, I stamped the leaves from Petal Prints and Green Galore ink randomly a couple of times. Then, using the Real Red ink and the solid flower image from the same set, I stamped off once onto scrap paper and then onto the Whisper White, and then used the line flower image and over stamped with Real Red ink. This gives the flower a bit of dimension. I layered all of this onto Green Galore and Real Red cardstock. Adding a little Dazzling Diamonds to the centre of the flowers just finished it off but it doesn't show up very well in the scan.
This card was quick and easy to make, a good one if you have heaps to make! I might have a go with a Christmas set and non-traditional colours next time! Wonder what I can come up with?

19 November 2007

I managed to whip this one up yesterday. It's CASED from SCS (I think from ChiChiAllen but I might not be correct - forgive me if I'm wrong). After buying this set and using it, it seems to have slipped to the back of my drawer so I thought I'd dig it out and do something with it.

I had my first official day at work today! My brain is numb!!!! I'm sure it will all become as clear as mud eventually though. It seems a nice place to work, very busy which will help the days go by. There seems to be plenty of Christmas stock arriving, and the Christmas decorations went up over the weekend in the shopping centre. I really must start thinking about presents! I used to be so organised for present buying but the past few years have seen an extreme decline - probably due to lack of motivation now the kids are older.

Employed!

What a day! I was shopping this morning and bumped into a friend. She mentioned that a job, where she works, that had been advertised a while ago was now vacant again and wondered if I was interested. I had a chat with the managers there and then, and blow me down if I don't have a trial day tomorrow! Am I surprised or what!!!!!

DH had mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I had better start earning some decent money with Stampin' Up or find a job. Money is a little tight at the moment. He was impressed when I got home with a couple of bags of shopping and a job. He's now wondering how I'll manage to do SU! as well - obviously he forgets that I will have nights and weekends, I'm sure he'll help with the cooking and housework.

It's quite peaceful here at the moment. DD got the new Harry Potter DVD yesterday and her and DH are watching it. It doesn't interest me at all, I haven't even read the books!

Toothache!

DH announced late this afternoon that he has toothache, and can I arrange an appointment at the dentist for Monday morning! Umm, hello, there's usually a 6 months wait for an appointment for a check up!!!!

After a couple of hours with him moaning about a sore tooth, and me being sympathetic (not! -he hasn't seen a dentist for at least 12 years!!) I am going to try very hard to get a dentist to see him ASAP. He's driving me nuts!!!!

08 November 2007

I had my first get together with my Stampin' Up upline this week. There are a few of us and we all met up to play. We had a go at the polished stone technique, using the re-inkers and alcohol -not the kind you drink though :(

I also made a similar one with a 'With Sympathy' greeting for the family of a lady who used to attend my card classes. I heard she had passed away earlier this week after a long illness. She will be greatly missed.
The stamps I used will be in the new Summer Mini Catalogue, due to be released on 1st December. Contact me if you would like a copy of the mini catalogue, or further details on any Stampin' Up product.

A Change!

Well, I started off blogging elsewhere and today I was just fiddling around and found this blog site. It seems to be a lot more user friendly so I've just copied my previous posts across. Don't worry, there weren't too many so it won't take you long to go through them!

I woke up with a headache this morning which I can't seem to shake. I haven't even ventured into my scrap room, the thought of the wedding photo's that remain to be scrapped is just too much today. I also ought to make a 'to do' list as well. I've got so many things to do that I keep forgetting.

I’ve finally got round to getting the photographs that I took on our weekend away off of my camera. I thought I’d share a couple with you. We had a brilliant time, although my only complaint was the lighting in the evening. It was OK for general use but if you were trying to scrap, the colours went a bit iffy. Next time I might take a light with me. Maybe now is the time to drop DH some hints about Christmas presents!!
As you can see from the photographs, we did find time for other essentials!

Watercolouring

October 26, 2007 on 6:19 pm

As I had a bit of time on my hands today I thought I’d play around with my new SU! watercolour wonder crayons. They are wonderful! I can see that they are going to last me years and years cos a little seems to go a long way! I stamped the images with Staz-On ink onto watercolour paper and then used an aquapainter to pick up a little of the crayon colour and then just painted onto the image. It’s so quick and easy!

For both cards I used ‘Seaside Sketches’ and ‘Itty Bitty Backgrounds’ stamp sets; watercolour paper, Rich Regals Watercolor Wonder Crayons, black Staz-On and Versamark inks.

A Weekend Away

October 15, 2007 on 8:28 pm

I’m starting to get excited! A group of us are going away this weekend for a girls weekend of scrapping. Chocolate and alcohol are packed, just have to add my scrapping stuff and some food. Seriously considering hitching up the trailer to take all my scrapping stuff. How can you pack for a weekend when you’re not sure how many pages you’ll do, or if you’ll want to scrap the pics you’ve taken!

Hello!

October 7, 2007 on 7:24 pm

Welcome! This is my first venture into blogging. As an Independent Stampin’ Up demonstrator I thought it wise to have a blog where I can showcase some of my designs, and also to keep anyone who is interested up-to-date with Stampin’ Up specials.

Please bear with me! My computer knowledge is limited - do you know how long it took me to get this blog started?!!! As I get more confident I will add photo’s, links, etc.
